Iiholiitoblichi (We Honor Them): Chickasaws in the Oklahoma Hall of Fame

Located in the Holisso Special Collections Room

Across the world, many hall of fame organizations honor notable people for a variety of accomplishments. The Oklahoma Hall of Fame was formed to celebrate Statehood Day. Created in 1927, the hall of fame commends the service and extraordinary accomplishments of state residents. Inductees must show a record of “outstanding service to humanity, the state of Oklahoma and the United States,” and have “brought honor or distinction to the state of Oklahoma.” As of 2021, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame has honored 13 Chickasaw citizens who represent exceptional talent, leadership and service in our Chickasaw community. This exhibit is dedicated to those esteemed Chickasaw inductees.
