A new interactive exhibit exclusively on display at the Chickasaw Cultural Center honors the past and present Chickasaw Lighthorse law enforcement department.

“Lighthorse” is an historic name given by the Chickasaw, Choctaw, Cherokee, Muscogee and Seminole Nations, often referred to collectively as the Five Civilized Tribes, to their mounted police force. Once removed to Indian Territory, the Five Civilized Tribes created the elite Lighthorse police to serve and protect their citizens.

The exhibit features real uniforms, badges and other equipment utilized by present Chickasaw Lighthorse officers as well as historical information about the department. On your next visit, make sure to stop by the Aapisa' Art Gallery to be immersed in a unique exhibit that you won’t forget!
