Listening to Our Elders: Mike Larsen Chickasaw Elders Painting Series

See original portraits painted by world-renowned, Chickasaw artist Mike Larsen.

Noted by the award-winning Larsen as one of his greatest achievements, the Chickasaw Elders Paintings were published in a two-book series by the Chickasaw Press – “They Know Who They Are” and “Proud to Be Chickasaw.” Together, the volumes feature the portraits of more than 70 Chickasaw elders painted by Larsen, and each is accompanied by a short biography written by Martha Larsen and Jeannie Barbour.

The newest series of Chickasaw Elders Paintings, "Listening to Our Elders," is on display now in the Aaittafama' Building.

Portraits are rotated throughout campus and are on display throughout the year.
