The Chickasaw Cultural Center will host Ithana: The Learn and Lunch Series at noon on April 21

The presentations are free and open to the public. There is an optional lunch available to purchase which includes an entrée and drink.

"Oka Holisso: Chickasaw and Choctaw Nation Water Resources Planning Guide"

Biography:

Newakis Weber serves as the Chickasaw Nation Director of Natural Resources, where she leads efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of water resources is in alignment with the Chickasaw and Choctaw Nation’s Water Settlement Agreement. She oversees research, partnerships and applied projects that provide sound science and reliable data to guide water planning and management, while collaborating with federal, state, academic and local partners to secure funding and advance critical water and wastewater infrastructure. Weber works closely with landowners, industries and watershed organizations to protect watershed health, improve water quality and address the interconnected challenges of water quantity and quality through the implementation of best management practices. She also provides leadership for the Chickasaw Nation Wildland Fire Management Program, supporting wildfire response and prescribed fire efforts that reduce hazardous fuels, protect natural resources and enhance ecosystem health, all in support of the Chickasaw Nation’s long-term ecological, cultural and economic well-being.
